A key does not complete the whole move

A family receives the apartment keys on Friday and books the removal company for the next morning. The plan assumes that access, utility activation, building permissions and lift availability all follow automatically from the same event. That assumption can turn a straightforward handover into a chain of avoidable questions. Begin by separating the milestones. Who confirms access? Who holds the relevant account or reference number? What must be paid, registered or booked before a service is available? The purpose is to assign the dependencies, not to promise that every building follows an identical process.

Use the current DEWA route for your situation

DEWA’s move-in page describes integration with Ejari for relevant leasing contracts, with account and payment information sent after issuance. It also distinguishes other routes, including owners and certain free-zone situations.[1] Read the route that applies to your circumstances instead of copying a friend’s checklist. Save the service reference and receipt, and check the official status. This article deliberately does not reproduce a universal fee or activation deadline: consult the current service page when arranging the move. The Tenancy Document File is the related reading route for organising the underlying records.

Give building arrangements their own owner

Ask the building management what applies to deliveries, moving access and common facilities. Record the answer, the person or team responsible and the date confirmed. A moving company’s availability does not establish building approval, while an agent’s key collection appointment does not establish the status of a utility request. Make a small dependency table: task, prerequisite, confirmation and fallback contact. Use Designing an Ordinary Week to consider how the first few days will work if the permanent timetable is not yet established. Keep private account numbers out of broadly shared chat groups.

Schedule from confirmed conditions

Work backwards from the intended move, then identify the earliest unresolved dependency. If an important service is unconfirmed, establish a practical contingency rather than assuming that a paid booking proves readiness. Keep contact details from the official provider and building records, and verify unexpected payment requests independently. Dubai Real Estate — The Professional Handbook is a related research route, not a substitute for the live service instructions or your contract. A move is ready when the required conditions are confirmed, not merely when every participant has entered the same date in a calendar. Clear ownership of each task makes delays easier to identify and resolve.
